How we verify filter compatibility
Every answer on Coffee Filter Finder comes from documentation published by the coffee maker's manufacturer. We show those sources on each page so you can check them yourself.
What counts as evidence
We use, in order of preference:
- Official instruction manuals and quick-start guides
- Manufacturer support and FAQ pages
- Manufacturer product pages
- Official parts and accessories listings
Retailer listings, forums and other third-party pages can point us towards something to check, but they are not enough on their own to publish a compatibility answer. If we cite one, it is labelled as a secondary source.
What we never assume
We do not decide that a coffee maker takes a particular filter because:
- it holds the same number of cups as another machine,
- it looks similar to another model,
- it is made by the same brand or belongs to the same product family,
- a retailer describes a filter as "universal",
- a filter appears to be physically similar, or
- another website, including AI-generated content, says it fits.
We record filter descriptions exactly as the documentation states them: if a manual says "#4 paper filter" without stating a shape, we do not add one. Filter names are also not treated as interchangeable. For example, a numbered cone size and a similarly sized filter from another naming system are listed separately unless documentation links them.
Verification status
- Verified from official sources
- The filter answer and the other details shown are supported by manufacturer documentation.
- Partially verified, Research needed or Conflicting sources
- Some or all of the answer is not confirmed by manufacturer documentation, or sources disagree. These records stay in our research data and are not published.
Only verified models are published
A model page is published only when it has a confirmed brand and model, a clear filter answer, at least one official source supporting that answer and no unresolved conflict between sources. Models that do not meet this bar are kept out of the site until they do. That is why some popular models may be missing.
Markets and model numbers
Many machines are sold in several countries under slightly different model numbers. We keep one page per machine and list market-specific model numbers on it. We create separate pages only when the machine or its filter requirement is actually different in another market.
Each source shows what it supports
Each source is listed with its publisher, type, market, the date we checked it and the specific details it supports, such as filter size or reusable filter support.
Corrections
Manufacturers update products and documents. If you think an answer is wrong, please contact us with your model number and, if possible, a link to the manufacturer's documentation. We re-check the record against official sources before changing it.
